Welcome to my Shakespeare Workshop Website. My name is Julius and I am an actor and a teacher.
Since leaving drama school in 1989 I have worked extensively in the professional theatre both in the UK and abroad. I have also worked on film and television and for BBC Radio. As an actor, I have been lucky enough to work with some of the UK’s top theatre directors and leading classical theatre companies including the Royal Shakespeare Company and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre as well as musical theatre with Sir Cameron Mackintosh at the world famous Theatre Royal Drury Lane.
During my career in the theatre I found myself often asked to contribute to educational projects. These have ranged from drama workshops for children in schools to introducing adults and young people to the work of our most famous playwright, William Shakespeare.
In 2000 I decided to learn more about the “role” of the teacher and went back to University to study for a Post Graduate Certificate of Education at the University of Middlesex. This deepened my understanding of the nature of learning and the requirements and demands made of young people in education. During this period I became a core member of the London Shakespeare Workout Prison Project. A group of theatre professionals, actors and directors passionate about Shakespeare who would bring Shakespeare Workshops into prisons in London and across the UK. This was amazing work and of equal importance to actor and inmate alike. This work turned me on to the real potential Shakespeare has to unlock minds, inspire creativity, and build confidence. He can open doors to all sorts of possibilities and I have become a true fan.
This website was set up in order to promote my work as an ambassador of "The Bard" William Shakespeare, and to offer help and tuition with English language and literature.
I hope you find the site useful. You can find more information on details to my workshop approach or look at my actors CV or educational profile. I continue to combine my work as an actor with my teaching work both in the UK and Germany.
